CARLOS DURAN-PICHARDO

Hi! I am a designer with experience in identity, branding, advertisement, and motion design. I am currently exploring Junior/Entry level roles as an in house or agency designer.

I have four years of experience working as a freelance designer and a year of working as an agency designer.

My problem solving skills, attention to detail, and unique style of design has impacted the teams at Beats by Dre, Translation/United Masters, Instaboost Media, H.E.A.L., Books thru Bars, and the Millbrae Equity Plan Organization.

I'm constantly searching for growth and challenges, but even more eager to connect with you and share stories with each other.

DP/PT (DEVISED PERFORMANCE/PHYSICAL THEATRE)
LOGO / BRANDING / IDENTITY

SEPT:   09/2024
COMISSION/ACADEMIC PROJECT
DP/PT is a new form of visual art deriving from theatre + dance characteristics; the art form showcases rigorous, performative, and impromptu physical activity. It is further mixed with music, dance, and theatre.

California State University, Fullerton (CSUF) is one of the very few institutions in the world that hosts this art form as a curriculum and as a club.

Problem
The university tasked me with creating a design system with branding, and a logo that speaks to this contemporary art form.

CSUF was also looking to present this in Europe as they embark on a DP/PT convention.

Process
I made a web diagram of the definitions of "Devised Performance" and "Physical Theatre" in order to fully understand the initiative. I found key words and focused on bringing those to life. I sketched about 40 logos then digitally created about 20 logo marks and kept 7. I then implemented those and created design slides, then geared over to merchandise after getting feedback and making revisions.

Solution
I created and presented the brand identity, to the director of the program, which includes web design slides, marketing, and logos. With this, the University is fully prepared to present their iteration of the DP/PT programoverseas in countries in Europe for their upcoming (2024) and future convention.
